We are here to serve God and to serve others. Volunteering is also the best way to meet new people and make new friends. Below are opportunities in which to get involved and volunteer your time in service:
USHERS: We have four usher teams that serve during our regular worship services and for special services throughout the year. Each team serves once a quarter and each usher can choose to serve at the 8:45 a.m. service or the 11:00 a.m. service on Sundays. Ushers are also needed for Christmas Eve services and other special services and concerts.
GREETERS: One of the most important ways to serve our church family is to be the first person to reach out and welcome our visitors. We hope to make the friendliest first impression and make sure that all feel welcome and that we are glad they chose to visit our church. Greeters are at all entrances to the church to help guide guests where they need to go in our facility.
REFRESHMENTS: Volunteer to help with setting up and serving refreshments before and/or after each worship service. Beverages and cookies/donuts are served before the Saturday 5:30 p.m. worship service and between the Sunday morning services each weekend. Making coffee and preparing our refreshment table is an important part of welcoming everyone to our church and gives all a time to visit with each other.
SOUND SYSTEM OPERATION: Our services not only involve the need for sound system operators, but also PowerPoint operation. Volunteers are needed for all services to help run our sound system and computer. Training on all equipment is required. Contact the Worship Coordinator to learn more about being a part of our sound system team.
SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS: Sunday School teachers and/or leaders for all ages are always needed. Whether you like to work with small children, have current discussions with teenagers, or lead in-depth discussions with adults – we can use you!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, CHILDREN’S CHURCH & CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES: Vacation Bible School is our biggest event for children during the summer months. Between planning, organizing, decorating, publicity, meals, crafts, and much more it takes a lot of volunteers each year. Team Kid meets every Sunday night from October through March and leaders and helpers are such a benefit to make a fun time for the kids. Children’s Church meets every Sunday morning during the 8:45 a.m. worship service. Leaders take turns leading this group of youngsters while their parents are in the worship service.
MISSIONS: If you are interested in going on a mission trip or just helping with the fundraising events to raise money to send others on a trip your time and talents are needed. Our Mission’s Team sets up McDonald’s Day where we work to raise money, a Spaghetti Dinner is held annually to raise money for Mission International of American in Haiti, a Thanksgiving Dinner is held every year to raise funds for UMCR and so on. We can use your help! Learn more….
Our youth go on their annual mission trip each summer and need people to go as chaperones and to help them with their work projects.
QUILT MINISTRY: We give prayer quilts to those members or family & friends of members who are hospitalized and need the comfort of know that many people are praying for them. We also do quilts in times of joy such as the birth or adoption of a baby. Many hands are needed for making the quilts. Even if you don’t know how to sew you can help with cutting, pinning or ironing. These quilts means so much to those who receive them and make them feel so loved. Learn more….

HARRISON RALLY DAY COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Harrison Rally Day is a community event held every September. The day starts with a parade and then there are crafters with items for sale, food, fun, and just a great day all around. Perrysburg First provides a Hospitality Space for Harrison Rally Day on our church property. A place for people to rest, relax and enjoy a free lunch and a sno cone. It is our way of reflecting God’s love to all people and sharing the gifts that God has provided us with the people who stop by. It is a great time of sharing and meeting new people.
